Who we are
We remain true to the same principles on which our company was founded nearly 10 years ago: providing superior service to our clients, putting safety first, creating opportunities for our people, delivering exceptional work.
In 2008 Instacabin was started by Mr. Tom Shanahan, the former managing director of Builders Merchants Botswana, with a substantial initial investment. This went towards the setting up of the factory and the purchasing of manufacturing equipment. With over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, Mr. Shanahan has acquired an in-depth knowledge of prefabricated modular buildings and design. Instacabin is registered with the Botswana Government as a manufacturer for local procurement as all of our modular building panels are produced locally.
The factory, located in Mmamashia 15kms north of Gaborone city centre, can produce 100 panels per day in an 8 hour shift. The company has a complement staff of 47 members. Additionally, it has a pool of subcontractors who are presently completing projects and are available when needed. When the need arises we can operate 24 hours a day thus production can be increased to 200 panels a day or 1200 panels per week (six days).
Panels come in standard widths of 1000mm and in lengths of 2400mm, 2700mm or 3000mm. Most of the panels that are produced are used in the assembly of portacabins or prefabricated modular buildings such as administrative blocks, classrooms, mobile office accommodation, homes or clinics. These are either sold or hired to customers and our panels are also exported to Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. At present we are submitting a proposal to the government of the DRC to supply and build 100 classrooms of 120m2 each. Also we have received enquiries for similar projects in Namibia, Angola and Mozambique.
